About Course

The B1 Level of Chinese represents an intermediate proficiency where learners build on their basic knowledge of the language to engage in more complex conversations and understand a wider variety of texts. At this level, you will be able to discuss a broader range of topics, including work, studies, and personal interests, with more accuracy and fluency. The B1 level focuses on helping you express yourself more naturally in everyday situations and understand spoken and written Chinese in a more advanced way.

At B1, you will deepen your understanding of grammar, including more complex sentence structures, conditional forms, and the ability to talk about hypothetical situations. You will be able to discuss past events with greater detail, explain future plans, and describe ongoing actions. You will also learn more vocabulary related to various situations, such as workplace vocabulary, current events, and cultural references, enabling you to handle more specialized topics.

In terms of listening, you will be able to understand longer conversations and follow discussions on everyday topics without difficulty. You will also be able to comprehend news broadcasts, interviews, and simple debates, especially when the speech is clear. By this level, you will be able to pick up key details from more natural conversations, even if there are some unfamiliar words.

Speaking at B1 focuses on developing your ability to express opinions and argue points of view. You will be able to engage in discussions about topics such as personal experiences, future plans, and preferences. You will also practice giving detailed explanations and making requests, as well as expressing gratitude or apology in a more formal or nuanced way.

In reading, you will be able to understand short articles, emails, letters, and notices with ease, while also improving your ability to interpret the main ideas and details. You will be able to read more complicated texts with greater understanding, such as news stories or descriptive passages.

Writing exercises at B1 involve creating more detailed texts such as essays, reports, and personal letters. You will be able to describe complex ideas, explain your reasoning, and organize information clearly. Writing practice will also help you become more comfortable with formal and informal language styles in different contexts.

By the end of the B1 level, you will be able to actively engage in conversations on a wide range of familiar and unfamiliar topics, understand authentic Chinese materials, and express yourself effectively in both written and spoken forms. You will also be well-prepared to progress to the B2 level, where you will take on more advanced language skills and be able to handle more complex communication tasks.
