About Course

The B1 Level of French is the intermediate stage where learners begin to handle more complex communication and develop the ability to engage in a variety of everyday situations. At this stage, your language skills will be stronger, allowing you to understand and express yourself with more detail, fluency, and confidence.

At B1, you will start using a wider range of grammatical structures to talk about a variety of topics. You will become more comfortable with the past tenses, like the passé composé and imperfect, as well as the future tenses (future simple and future proche) to talk about plans and predictions. You will also begin using the subjunctive mood in simple sentences to express things like feelings, doubts, and necessity.

Your vocabulary will expand to include a broader array of topics such as current events, personal experiences, opinions, work, and travel. You will be able to speak more comfortably about abstract concepts and discuss more complicated topics like society, environment, cultural differences, and personal challenges.

In listening, you will be able to follow conversations on a variety of topics related to everyday life, including work, family, hobbies, and social issues. You will understand radio programs, interviews, short films, and TV shows at a normal speed and with more complex language. You will begin to understand native speakers more easily in real-world situations, even when they speak faster.

Speaking at B1 will allow you to discuss opinions, express your thoughts, and engage in more complex dialogues on subjects like relationships, work, and future plans. You will be able to give and explain your reasons, discuss personal experiences, and offer suggestions or advice. You will also practice narrating past events and describing a sequence of actions in a clear and organized way.

For reading, you will be able to understand more challenging texts, such as articles, emails, short stories, and reports on both familiar and unfamiliar subjects. You will focus on understanding main ideas, details, and the tone of the text, as well as making inferences and recognizing specific information in written materials.

In writing, you will be able to produce coherent, well-organized texts such as emails, letters, and short essays. You will be able to express your opinions clearly, write about personal experiences, and make comparisons or descriptions in a logical, easy-to-understand way. You will also be able to summarize information or give advice on various subjects.

By the end of the B1 level, you will be able to function independently in French-speaking environments and handle a variety of situations with confidence. You will be ready to move on to the B2 level, where you will further refine your ability to discuss more complex issues, develop fluency, and express yourself with greater ease.
